Government Public Service Innovation Labs 101
Brent Wellsch and Keren Perla – Alberta CoLab

Attendees will hear the Alberta CoLab Story, a public sector innovation team within the Government of Alberta. The CoLab is an evolving experiment. Its mission: advance the use of new and emerging approaches for building policy – such as systemic design, strategic foresight, and lab practices – to wrap collective thinking around our messiest, complex challenges and bring great ideas to life.

Participants will also be lead through a few small group exercises to simulate a workshop experience (e.g. system mapping; ideation/prototyping; etc.).

The objective of this workshop is for attendees to establish initial familiarity with the concept of public service innovation (what it is, perhaps what it might not be) along with introduction to tools and methods that can be used to promote this type of work and thinking.

Breakfast will be provided. Space is limited, so please register early to secure your spot. Please note that this event is in English only.
